FAQs

Before my child’s first dance class

Can I have a taster class?

Yes! We offer a free taster class for all new students so that your child can see if we’re right for them and their dance needs, wants and desires.

Do you have any boys dancing with BUDC?

Yes! We welcome everyone and have boys in a few of our classes. Dance classes improve strength, flexibility, build confidence and a strong healthy body and are just as valuable to boys as to girls.

What benefits will my child gain from dance classes?

Through dance young people gain access to both a core artistic discipline and to collaboration with other art forms. They develop skills in physical interaction, team working, problem solving, observing, evaluating, verbal and non-verbal communication of ideas and emotions, and in making connections, design in space, musicality and creativity. Dance can improve self-esteem and confidence; it can widen aspiration and help tackle obesity and other health issues. Dance offers young people a wide range of physical, psychological, social and emotional benefits and most importantly a lot of JOY!

What should I wear to class?

A T-shirt (We have new BUDC ones coming soon), black leggings or jogging bottoms, hair tied back, jewellery off and we dance barefoot. If you are interested in a BUDC T-shirt, you can click on the Merchandise button on the Home page which will direct you to our shop.

How many people are in a class?

Class numbers vary from group to group and term to term, but expect no more than 20 in each group.

What are the classes like?

If you click on the groups you’re interested in on the home page, you’ll get more detail about each class and what to expect.

Do I need to bring anything?

Zing, Zeal and Verve - Just a bottle of water

Company Members - BUDC notebook and pen, water bottle, plasters, and supports for injuries you might have.

Are there performance opportunities?

Yes! We are all about giving as many opportunities to perform as possible. Every group will perform at least twice in the year as well as their end of term sharings.

The Company tour their set work across the whole year regionally and locally.

Can I stay and watch my child?

Parents will be asked to wait in the waiting area as we find that children concentrate and develop more confidence on their own.

If you wish to leave the premises and collect your child at the end of the class, please wait until your child has been registered and entered the studio. Please arrive promptly to collect them at the end.

Also ensure all contact details are kept up to date.

Does my child have to do exams?

No BUDC does not offer dance exams.

Once you’ve had you’re free taster

How much does it cost?

The sessions for Zing, Zeal and Verve are £7/session

The sessions for the company are £10/session

We only accept termly or half termly payments paid by BACS.

How can I register and pay?

Give us a call on 07769 344 393 to have a chat and ask any questions you have. If you’re happy, you’ll then be invited for a free taster to see if BUDC is for you.

Once your child has tried their first dance class,  you will be emailed a link to the registration and payment page on our website. Please complete your child’s details and accurate contact details. You will then continue to our payment page to settle your term fee payment.

If the class is already full (we have maximum class sizes of 20 children) then your child’s name will be added to a waiting list for the next available place.

You can make termly and half termly payments of fees by BACS in advance of each term. Please note that class fees are non-refundable.

What is your policy for latecomers?

For health and safety reasons, participants who arrive later than 15 minutes after the start of the class will not be permitted to take part. This is because they will have missed the essential warm up and introduction to the class, which is vital in the prevention of injuries to participants.
